Anton (Tony) Tolksdorf, age 98, went to his heavenly home on July 23, 2024. He was born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin on July 10, 1926 to Adam and Agnes (Brefczynski) Tolksdorf and raised on a farm with his 12 brothers and sisters. He loved working in his garden where he is known for the pounds of potatoes he’d grow each year and onions with which you could bowl.
Tony served his country in the Air Force Army as a Corporal in WWII. He worked for 43 years with Mirro Corporation and opened the business, Twin Rivers Improvement, with his brother Joseph. He was an avid carpenter and worked on many homes throughout the community. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and playing volleyball in the park.
In 1951, he wed Dolores. They were longtime residents of Two Rivers, Wisconsin and members of St. Mark’s Catholic Church and St. Peter the Fisherman Parish. He was a former member of St. Mark’s Men’s Club.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Dolores (Schnese) Tolksdorf; son, Andrew Tolksdorf and his wife, Paula; and one daughter, Susan Tolksdorf. Anton is also survived by his grandchildren, Jena Tolksdorf, Kyle Tolksdorf and daughter-in-law Jennifer.
He is also survived by his sister Cecelia (Tolksdorf) Fessler and her husband Kenneth, and one sister-in-law Evelyn (Doucet) Tolksdorf.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Agnes Tolksdorf; five brothers: (Edmund, Harry, John, Joseph, and Frank) and six sisters: (Susan Glowmski, Martha Schleis-Rehak, Rose Hochman, Florence Kolaczkowski, Esther Kolaczkowski and Frances Ney-Doughman). He was also preceded in death by one sister-in-law Beverly (Schnese) Shambeau and her husband Glenn.
There will be a celebration of Tony’s life on Tuesday, July 30th at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd, Two Rivers. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:45 a.m. at the church with a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dave Pleier will preside at the service, with internment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Two Rivers. Military graveside rites will be accorded by members of American Legion Post # 165 and VFW Post # 1248 of Two Rivers.
