Austin L. "Bear" Funk

Austin L. “Bear” Funk, age 25 of Two Rivers, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, September 16, 2021 following a tragic automobile accident.

Austin was born August 18, 1996 in Two Rivers. He attended Two Rivers schools and graduated from TRHS in 2015. He continued his education at LTC to pursue a career in Machining, and worked for 5 years at Rusch Machine & Design in Two Rivers where he was well known as "Rueben". Just a few months ago, he decided to completely change his career to give himself a new challenge in life and begin sewer construction labor with Carl Bowers & Son’s Construction, where he was known as "Tacklebox".

Austin was an avid fisherman, hunter, and beer drinker. He loved spending time with his friends and family no matter what it was they were doing. His work ethic was one in a million, his laugh is unforgettable. He would drop anything he was doing at any given moment to help a person. He spent his days doing so many things he loved, from first mating on a charter boat to weekends at his family cabin in Northern Wisconsin.

Survivors include his loving parents, Kurt and Connie Funk of Two Rivers; his little sister, Megan Funk; two grandmothers: Nancy Funk and Janet Malfroid, both of Two Rivers; his aunts and uncle: Tammy Phillips, Gail Funk, and Brenda(Randy) Meyer; cousins: Missy (Cody) Gossfeld, Chris Meyer, and Derek Phillips; his best friend, Blake Piontek of Two Rivers; along with many other friends and extended family.

Austin was preceded in death by grandfathers, Robert Funk and Roy Malfroid; his great-grandparents; great aunts & great uncles, and other family.

The family will greet loved ones from 9:00 until 12:00 noon, Monday September 27, 2021 at St. Peter the Fisherman Parish, 3201 Mishicot Rd. in Two Rivers. The morning will conclude with a short memorial service at 12 o'clock led by Deacon Paul Gleichner, followed by a gathering to celebrate Austin’s life at Port Sandy Bay.

Jeans, t-shirts, and camo are the preferred attire.
