Carl Francis Wartick

April 3, 1932 — April 7, 2022

Carl Francis Wartick, 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, on Thursday, April 7 th , 2022.

He was born on April 3 rd , 1932 in the town of Niagara, Wisconsin. He remained in Niagara until he joined the U. S. Navy in May, 1950 at the age of 18. There he traveled to many exotic ports of calls, including: Hawaii, Japan, Spain, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. However, his best port of call would have to be Puerto Rico where he met the love of his life, Carmen Augustina Sineriz. In August 1953, they were married and remained so for the next 57 years until she passed away in June of 2010 from cancer. They shared a long and wonderful life together. Carl and Carmen had 9 children.

After 20 honorable years as an Electrician’s mate in the Navy, Carl retired as a Senior Chief. He was very proud of the time he served, and influenced 5 of his kids to join the military.

In 1970 he moved back to his hometown of Niagara where he eventually got a job working as an electrician at Lake Shore Inc. in Kingsford, Michigan. He continued working there for another 20 years before retiring for good. In 1999 he and Carmen moved to Two Rivers where he continued with his love for travel. He would plan every detail of his road trips, visiting his children and relatives throughout the country. He would marvel at how the glaciers carved up the landscape, and he always wanted to check out the progress that was made on the Crazy Horse sculpture. Carl was a fan of nature. He could identify many plants, trees, and berries. It was not unusual for him to pile the car full of the neighborhood kids, and go after blueberries, blackberries, or raspberries. Often these trips would end with him treating everyone to an ice cream cone. Carl loved his ice cream. He also loved children, his dogs, playing cribbage, deer hunting, and ice fishing. But as anyone could tell you, his greatest past time was watching the Green Bay Packers. Anyone who knew him, knew enough not to interrupt him during the game.

Carl eventually remarried on October 13 th , 2016, to Janice Marie (Jan) Short of Two Rivers. They remained the Love of each other's life until his death. Carl continued planning trips; going to Canada, Arizona for the winter, or just a quick weekend trip to Door County. He was a kind, loving man, who loved to visit with the many people he met while traveling and the people he met loved to visit with him as well. Carl loved Vet Shows on TV especially Dr. Pol, card games on the computer, and watching the cardinals and many birds who visited the feeders. He was a very generous man who donated to many charities, including TREP, the Humane Society, and many more.

Survivors include his wife, Jan; seven sons, Dale Wartick of California, Ken (Lisa) Wartick of Arkansas, Carl (Beth) Wartick Jr. of California, Dennis Wartick, and Bruce Wartick, both of Manitowoc, Rodney Wartick of Niagara, and Steve Wartick of Manitowoc.; one daughter, Mayra (Jill) Short of Manitowoc; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Wartick, Natalie (Alesha) Wartick, Amanda Wartick, Jennifer Wartick, William Wartick, Levi Short, Owen Short, and Noah Short; seven great-grandchildren, Kayleen Wartick, Madalyn Wartick, Sierra Wartick, Thatcher Wartick, Foster Wartick, Aubrey Speight, and Aiden Speight.
