Charleen Steinhauer (Nee Albrecht)

February 5, 1935 — January 30, 2024

Charleen Steinhauer, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, surrounded by family, at Serenity Villa in Slinger, Wisconsin.
Charleen was born on February 5, 1935 in Two Rivers, Wisconsin to Christine (Althen) and Albert Albrecht.  She married the love of her life, John Steinhauer, on August 23, 1957.  They lived in Green Bay, WI for the majority of their 64 years of marriage.  Early on she was a devoted home maker and mother, spending her time volunteering at her children’s school and for many years was President of the Bellin Hospital Auxiliary.  Later in life, Charleen obtained her degree in Accounting from NWTC and was very proud of that accomplishment.  She worked at Gold Bond Ice Cream and FMC.  She was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Green Bay, WI.
Charleen was very artistic and enjoyed using those talents creating handmade Christmas cards, crocheting baby blankets, hats, sweaters and Afghans.  Later in life, she took up painting, after taking an art class.  Charleen enjoyed going to the casino with John and it did not matter if she won or not, but she preferred to win.  Later as the grandchildren arrived, she enjoyed her time with them, whether it was babysitting or playing with them outside.
Survivors include her daughter: Sharon (Charlie) Serwe of West Bend, WI; son: Andy (Cindy) Steinhauer of Waupun, WI; grandchildren: Austin Serwe, Aaron Serwe, Lucas (Mara) Serwe, Stephanie Steinhauer, Rebecca Steinhauer; great grandchildren: Emmet and Logan Serwe, brother-in-law: Joseph (Mary) Steinhauer and 18 nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband: John Steinhauer; infant son: Philip; her parents: Christine and Albert Albrecht; her brothers and sisters-in-laws: Albert Jr. (Doris), Roger (Joyce) and Lyle (Judy) Albrecht; in-laws: Mildred and Rudolph Steinhauer and sister-in-law: Mary Lau.
Special thanks to the staff at Serenity Villa, Pam with Right at Home and Horizon Hospice for caring for Charleen.
