Dorothy Mae Krejcarek, age 89, of Two Rivers, died Monday night, January 9, 2023, at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital.
Dorothy Mae Krejcarek was born to Frank and Tille (Fidler) Kvitek on February 28th, 1933 in Cooperstown, Wisconsin. She was one of three girls in the family and took great pride in how she and her sisters, Olive and Lorraine, worked on the dairy farm alongside her parents and older brother Vic where she was born and raised. Dorothy was always proud that the farm continued to thrive. She attributed her enjoyment of work and strong work ethic to those beginnings.
Dorothy attended Denmark High School and following graduation started working at Maribel State Bank, a place she would help out covering for summer vacations even after having a family. She continued in the finance field working at Roncalli High School in the Business Office for 22 years as the Bookkeeper until her retirement in 1995. Retirement brought a more flexible schedule but Dorothy continued to play a role in account management as she served as Treasurer for the Ladies Council of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Even when visiting her family in Florida, Dorothy found herself volunteering to count money for the fund-raising events. She was always good with numbers.
She married the love of her life LeRoy R. Krejcarek at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kellnersville on September 7th, 1954. He preceded her in death on January 8th, 2021. She and LeRoy were a true “team.” If any one of their children needed help, such as starting a career in the Navy, moving to a new city, or working on extensive house projects, they gladly hopped on a plane or jumped in the car to lend a much-appreciated helping hand. These projects found them traveling throughout the state of Wisconsin as well as coast to coast. They even traveled as far
as New Zealand to see the home country of their AFS son, Robert Lockington.
As much as she enjoyed traveling, home was where her heart was. If you had the pleasure of being hosted for a card game, party, or family event you would have likely enjoyed homemade raspberry or strawberry jam from the berries in her garden, been surrounded by a beautifully kept yard and flowerbeds, and if you were lucky tasted her delicious filled-dumplings. Dorothy made everyone feel at home and feel like family.
When she took time to relax you might find her playing cards - Sheephead, Bridge, or 500. If the weather allowed she would be found on the golf course and when at home, cheering for the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. She loved the time she could spend with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy served as a Eucharistic Minister and was an Honor Guard for many years at Saint Peter the Fisherman (previously Most Holy Redeemer). In addition, she served as a volunteer at St Vincent de Paul and to many other service organizations. She summed up what she valued when she shared that her focus in life was simple, she dedicated her time and heart to her faith, her family, and her friends.
