Eddie Schwahn

January 14, 1939 — July 6, 2024

Edward A. Schwahn, age 85, rural Wayside resident, peacefully entered eternal life at his home on Saturday, July 6, 2024.

Eddie was born at home on January 14, 1939 (in the bedroom he was sleeping in now) to Ehfried and Olga (Mack) Schwahn. He attended school at Zion Lutheran Grade School in Wayside and Reedsville High School. On October 30, 1965, he was united in marriage to Gail A. Wagner at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The couple was blessed with three children and 58 years of marriage. Ed also served several years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was honorably discharged in October, 1966.

Eddie farmed the Schwahn Homestead his entire life; and was a lifelong, faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wayside where he served on the finance committee, ushering committee, and the church & school boards. He was an avid Packers, Brewers, and U.W. Sports fan.

Survivors include his wife, Gail; one son, Jeff Schwahn of Reedsville; one daughter, Lori Schwahn (fiance, Paul Eickert) rural Brillion; and son-in-law, Ed Hafkey (special friend, Angie Schenian) of rural Reedsville; his grandchildren: Tyler, Jordyn, Riley, and Peyton Schwahn; Hale (Autumn) Hafkey & their daughter, Aurora; Cade Hafkey, Trey Hafkey, and a step-grandchild, Wayne Eickert; He is further survived by his brother, Milton Schwahn, rural Wayside; two sisters & brothers-in-law, Linda (Harold) Schachel, Port Washington, Betty (Bob) Havlovitz of Denmark; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Mary Wagner, Diane Wagner, and Richard Gorte; his godchildren: Pete Peterson, Jerry Dreyer, Shane Peterson, Rita Robley, Chad Lorrigan, Mindy Wagner, and Jim Dobberfuhl; along with other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ehfried and Olga Schwahn; a daughter, Kristi Hafkey; one brother & three sisters-in-law: Raymond (Barbara) Schwahn, Jean Schwahn, and Betty Gorte; two sisters & three brothers-in-law, Caroline (Jim) Lorrigan, Dorothy (Pete) Peterson, and William Wagner; and his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Earl and Beatrice Wagner.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church, Wayside located at 8378 County W, Greenleaf, WI.  Rev. Kyle Wangelin will officiate at the service, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Zion Lutheran Church, Wayside, Saturday morning from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. There will be no Friday evening visitation.
