With the heaviest of hearts, we share the sudden passing of Edward F. Bauknecht on June 18, 2023, two weeks after receiving a cancer diagnosis. He died peacefully, surrounded by love and family.
Ed was born in Two Rivers, Wisconsin on February 12, 1949 to Floyd and Elizabeth Bauknecht. He was a graduate of Washington High School in Two Rivers, and received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay in 1971. He married his wife, Pam (Weidman), in 1982.
His career included 25 years at Fisher Hamilton, Two Rivers, WI and an additional 12 years at Holy Family Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, WI as Director of Management Information Systems.
Ed was the eldest son in a very large, loving family - ten good kids. Taking on the role of "man of the house" when his dad wasn't home, his role as a leader began early, a part of him that held strong throughout his life.
Ed's focus in life has always been family, a father to five children. Over the years, Ed and Pam hosted many gatherings and celebrations, with the focus on making special memories and bringing the family together.
We continue to see Ed in his siblings (those Bauknecht genetics are strong!), in the kindness and strength of his children, in the smiles and belly laughs of his grandchildren, and maybe when a Willie Nelson song comes on.
Remember to enjoy the little things in life, value family and each other, and always bring patience, peace, and love to every day.
He is survived by his wife, Pam; his children: Chris (Amy Timm) Bauknecht of Madison, WI, Adam Bauknecht of Madison, WI, Kim (Sam) Kutzler of Wausau, WI, Cassandra (Mitchell) Propson of Waukesha, WI; his grandchildren: Thomas Kutzler, Calvin Propson, Vivian Kutzler, and Charlotte Kutzler; siblings: Sue (Bob) Dietrich of Manitowoc, WI, Karen Bauknecht-Van Sistine, Sharon Bauknecht, Frank (Chris) Bauknecht, Ellen (Mike) Gelhar, Joe (Sally) Bauknecht, Connie Martell, Michael Bauknecht, all of Two Rivers, WI, and Steve (Linda) Bauknecht of Indianapolis; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Cathy (Rich) Johnson of Mundelein, IL, Mike Weidman of Wilmette, IL, Janine Weidman of Grayslake, IL, Dan (Audrey) Weidman of Flossmoor, IL, and Diane (Chris) Rodahl of Stillwater, MN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Betty Bauknecht, his daughter Michelle, brothers-in-law Jerry Van Sistine and Emmet Weidman, and sister-in-law Marilyn Weidman.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials received will be donated to one of Ed's favorite community organizations.
