Elrene Korinek

Elrene M. Korinek, age 83, longtime resident of Two Rivers, passed away peacefully Monday evening, August 21, 2023 at the Hamilton Care Center in Two Rivers.

Elrene was born in the town of Two Creeks on April 12, 1940 to Leonard and Mildred (Plansky) Stangel. She attended the Rangeline Country School and graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers with the class of 1958. On August 29, 1959, she married James J. Korinek at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tisch Mills. The couple celebrated sixty-three years together before Jim preceded her in death just three months ago on May 15, 2023.

Over the years, Elrene babysat for many children in her home. As each child grew, she loved watching them grow into adulthood. She especially loved following many of them in their various activities and sporting events, and enjoyed attending many of the Two Rivers Raiders' sporting events. Elrene also loved embroidering, selling many of her embroidered items at various craft shows and their booth at the local Two Rivers Farmer's market which she and Jim operated weekly for many years. The couple also enjoyed gathering with friends at McDonalds; and traveled to many pigeon racing events, which was a huge past-time hobby of Jim's. Elrene was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and longtime member of the Ladies of St. Peter the Fisherman.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Kirchen of Manitowoc; grandchildren: Becky (Brent) Sinkula, Jeanna (Shawn) Trindal; her great-grandchildren: Vienna, Shavon, Mason, Gavin, and Savannah; and her god-child, Brenda Line. She is further survived by two sisters: Mardell Doubek and Marlene Dewane; and one sister-in-law, Jeanette Korinek, all of Two Rivers; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Mildred Stangel; her husband, James Korinek; son-in-law, John C. Kirchen; one sister, Artlet; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Anton and Florence Korinek; and brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Louie Doubek, Jerry Dewane, Gordon (Bette) Korinek, Jerome Korinek, Bernice (Clarence) Kohlbeck, and Bruce (Jan) Korinek.

Visitation will be held at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th Street, Two Rivers on Saturday, August 26th from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, led by Fr. Dave Pleier, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Tisch Mills.
