Gayle L. Durocher

Gayle Louise Durocher, age 77, of Apopka, Florida, died Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at home surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Gayle was born January 15, 1946 in Dawson, MN, only child of the late Arnold and Elsie (Olson) Mortvedt.  She was a graduate of Dawson High School in Dawson, MN.  On November 19, 1978 she married Daniel Durocher in Sioux Falls, SD.  Gayle worked at the Ramsey County Court House in St Paul, MN for many years prior to moving to Florida.  In 2015, she retired as a Freelance Insurance Auditor in Apopka, FL.  Gayle liked to travel, especially aboard cruise ships; read, play cribbage, and was an enthusiastic sports fan - watching any game she could find on TV.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was extremely proud of her children and loved her grandchildren dearly.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Daniel; one daughter/son-in-law, Danyle & Steven Schenck of DeLand, FL; one son/daughter-in-law, Drew & Rebecca Durocher of Mexico City, Mexico; and four grandchildren: Carter and Haelyn Schenck; Diana and Raegan Durocher.  She is further survived by two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Denise (Bryan) Dax, Two Rivers, WI,  Dawn (Kelly) Hilliker, Two Rivers, WI, and David (Carmen) Durocher, Hudson, FL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Elsie Mortvedt; and her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Donald and Valeria Durocher.

A private family gathering was held in Apopka, Florida.  Cremation has taken place at the Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home – East Altamonte, FL.
