Geraldine Marie Ramseth, age 84, was called to eternal rest on January 1, 2025 at Meadow View Assisted Living in Two Rivers, WI. She was born May 26, 1940 in Negaunee, MI, daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Schaffer) Kutchie and resided in Negaunee, Michigan for 81 years of her life.
Geraldine graduated from St. Paul’s Catholic School in 1958 where she attended elementary through high school. She married the love of her life, Curtis Ramseth, on February 3, 1962 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Negaunee, MI and their lasting love was evident throughout their 61 years of marriage. They truly were one until his death on August 18, 2023. Her faith was displayed through her devotion to Curt, St. Paul’s Catholic Church, St. Peter the Fisherman Church, family and friends. She gave with all her heart and loved without limits.
Geri worked at Erickson Oil for a few years before becoming a stay at home mom raising her son and daughter. She eventually worked at Ramseth Furniture with her husband in Marquette, MI. When the business closed she was employed at the UP Medical Center for 19 years as a medical receptionist for multiple doctors and thoroughly enjoyed greeting the patients with her bright smile.
Geri made many friendships through her involvement with the Miner Booster Club. She enjoyed spending time watching and cheering for the Negaunee Miners football and basketball teams with her wonderful friends. Geri showed her warmth and hospitality when gathering for family events or when playing various card games, dominoes, and Farkel with friends. She loved to bake and was known for her delicious cinnamon rolls, apple bars or her big bowl of coleslaw at family dinners. She had a fondness of listening to instrumental music, choirs, and attending musicals or the city band concerts in the park. When living in the UP, Geri and Curt could also be seen walking their usual 3 mile route every day. They were also fortunate to call Panama City Beach their “winter” home for 10 years.
She is survived by her children Eric (Jill) Ramseth of Rockford, IL and Kirsten (Larry) Sleger of Two Rivers, WI. She was blessed to have four grandchildren: Ian Ramseth and Adrianna, Andrew and Vanessa Hines and two great grandchildren. She also had a brother and sister-in-law; Jim (Rose) Kutchie; a sister and sister-in-law, Dorothy (Kutchie) Remillard and Janet Ramseth; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and beloved friends. She also was survived by a special granddog, Sierra.
Geri was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Curt Ramseth; her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Eugene Doughtery; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Karen Kutchie; her two sisters-in-law and husbands: Gayle and Roman Gill & Marie and Byron Dowse; and her brothers-in-law: Paul Remillard and Roger Ramseth.
