Helen Schwake

Helen M. Schwake, age 81, lifetime resident of Two Rivers, died unexpectedly, yet peacefully Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at her residence.

Helen was born in Two Rivers on May 22, 1941 to Joseph and Helen (Soukup) Maresh. She grew up in rural Two Rivers and was a graduate of Washington High School. On November 3, 1962, Helen married Thomas W. Schwake at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ in Two Rivers. Tom preceded her in death April 6, 2016.

Helen worked as a beautician her entire life and was owner/operator of Creative Touch Beauty Salon for many years. She loved to organize parties or special events and found great joy in always making other people happy. She enjoyed crocheting things for her family and friends, loved to play cards, and enjoyed getting together with her card and birthday clubs. Above all, she enjoyed the time with her family; she especially cherished the time with her granddaughters.

Helen is survived by her two sons: Mitchell Schwake (special friend, Beth Flentje) of Two Rivers and Jeffrey Schwake of Oshkosh; two grandchildren, Vannesa and Jillian Schwake; and two step-granddaughters: Sara (Keith) Wiebensohn, and Kimber. She is further survived by one brother and one sister: John (Susan) Maresh of Oconomowoc, and Nancy (Bill) Becker of Gurney, IL; brother-in-law, Tim (Karen) Schwake of Green Bay, and sister-in-law, Jane (David) Messman of Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Helen Maresh; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Arthur and Ora Schwake; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Schwake.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, with details to be announced by Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels of Two Rivers.
