James A. Myers

James A. Myers, age 94, of Two Rivers, died early Friday morning, June 3, 2022, at home, with his family at his side.
James was born on September 27, 1927, in Two Rivers, a son of the late Alvin and Ada (Kahrs) Myers. He graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the Class of 1945. Jim then served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse and earned his Masters Degree from St. Frances College in Fort Wayne, Ind. On August 4, 1951, he married Elizabeth”Bettie” Domenoski at Sacred Heart in Two Rivers. Jim worked for the State of Indiana, State of Minnesota and then for many years for the State of Wisconsin Dept. of Health and Social Services as a licensing specialist. As the quarterback for the UW-LaCrosse Indians football team, he led the team to the Cigar Bowl on New Years Day of 1954. He was a player and coach for the Manitowoc Chiefs Football team and was enshrined into the Chiefs Hall of Fame. He was also enshrined in the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years: Bettie Myers; his children: Terre Myers of Manitowoc, Tim and Karen Myers of Two Rivers, Deb and Tom Keil of Manitowoc and D.J. and Jody Myers of Two Rivers; six grandchildren: Cory (Jackie) Myers, Kristy (Russell) Hess, Emily Keil, Hannah Keil (fiancé’, Aaron Lang), Dalten Myers and Claire Myers; and two great grandchildren: Abby Myers and Seth Myers. He is further survived by two sisters: Jackie Nett and Judi Walters, both of Fond du Lac and a sister-in-law: Lee Myers of Oakfield; along with many special nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings: Janis Minaker, Jeanne Zich, Jay “Whitey” Myers, Jan “Bucky” Myers, John Myers, June Pipkin, and Jamie Myers; brothers-in-law: Francis Feltman, Sr., Lloyd Zich, LeRoy Walters, Russell Minaker, Sr.; sisters-in-law: Helen Myers and Joanne Myers; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ben and Martha Domenoski, Sr.; and brothers-in-law: Ben (Grace) Domenoski, Jr. and Carl (Pat) Domenoski.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3234 Mishicot Road, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. David Hintz, military honors accorded by members of VFW Post #1248 and American Legion Post #165 of Two Rivers will be held at the church immediately following the service.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening visitation.
