Jerome "Jj" Wanek

Jerome (JJ) Wanek, age 91 of Two Rivers, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at his son & daughter-in-law's home in New Berlin, WI.

JJ was born in Two Rivers on December 2, 1932 to Joseph and Viola (Stodola) Wanek. He was a 1950 graduate of Washington High School in Two Rivers, and served our country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War (1952-1954). Jerome was united in marriage to Vivian Kotarek on May 12, 1956 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. The couple created many wonderful memories as they shared 57 years of marriage. Vivian preceded him in death on June 11, 2013.

JJ worked for the Shoto Corporation for several years, followed by many years at Hamilton Mfg. Company, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed working with Formica, doing many jobs for people in the community. JJ also enjoyed walking, riding his bike, yard work, listening to polka music, and enjoying time with his family. He especially loved to reminisce about the Good ol Days.

JJ leaves behind, his three children: Lee (Sandy) Wanek of New Berlin, WI, Kay Bauer of Two Rivers, and Todd (Sheila) Wanek of Two Rivers; six grandchildren: Steven (Justine) Bauer, Marc Bauer (special friend, Julia Mutchie), Nicole (Adam) Wachowski, Brian (Laura) Wanek, Aly (Derick) Blake, and Jason (Jolene) Wanek; along with five great-grandchildren: Harper, Kyler, Baker, Gracie, and Nora. He is further survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henry (Pat) Kotarek; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Viola Wanek; his wife, Vivian; one sister & brother-in-law, Shirley (Paul) Malkowski; and two sisters-in-law & a brother-in-law: Carol Schmitz, and Mildred (Alvin) Mott.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers. Rev. Dave Pleier will preside at the memorial mass, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Military graveside rites will be accorded by members of American Legion Post #165 and VFW Post #1248 of Two Rivers.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Tuesday morning from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m.
