Joan Dietrich

Joan B. (Sheahan) Dietrich, age 91, longtime resident of Reedsville, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, March 7, 2022 at home.

Joan was born in the town of Cato on January 31, 1931 to James and Margaret (Daley) Sheahan. She attended schools in Grimms and Maple Grove, and graduated from Valders High School with the class of 1948. On April 8, 1953, she married Lawrence J. Dietrich, Sr. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Maple Grove. Together, the couple farmed in the town of Maple Grove until moving to Reedsville in 1962. They enjoyed camping and traveling, having traveled through all U.S. States except Alaska. Larry preceded her in death on May 14, 2010. Joan also worked for several years at Manitowoc Equipment Works and Equity Livestock of Reedsville, she retired from Reedsville High School in 1990 where she worked for many years as the head cook. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed playing cards, sewing, quilting, cooking, and especially time spent with family. She was also a longtime, proud member of the Friends of St. Patrick's.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Jim and Pam Dietrich, Larry and Ellen Dietrich, all of Reedsville; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Mary Balte of Manitowoc, Patti and Greg Olejniczak of Greenleaf, and Karen and Tom Camann of Neenah; thirteen grandchildren: Jessie (Jim) Dushek, John Balte, Gregg (Kelly) Dietrich, Tracey (Ryan) Schmidt, Mike Olejniczak, Luke Olejniczak (special friend, Kim Mueller), Charity (Jon) Boylan, Angie (Ben) Kalista, Ashley (Matt) Mraz, Brady Dietrich (special friend, Tiffany Kohlmann), Andy (Sarah) Camann, Nick Camann (special friend, Brittany Nelson), Katie Camann (special friend, Marc Sieber); nineteen great-grandchildren: Joanie and Jocelyn Dushek; Ethan, Jadyn, Malayna and Tyler Dietrich; Damon, Weston and Gannon Schmidt; Ella and Wyatt Boylan; Lily, Sophia and Liam Kalista; Makalynn and Kayden Mraz; and Daniel, Luke and Ben Camann. She is further survived by one sister, Karen (Sebastian) Schuh of Clarks Mills; one brother-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Art (Betty) Dietrich, Claire Dietrich, Judy Dietrich, and Jeanette Sheahan, all of Whitelaw; two very dear friends: Dotsie Nate and Verona Grimm; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret Sheahan; her husband, Larry; a daughter, Susie Dietrich; great-grandson, Reese Dietrich; sisters: Rita Sheahan, Mary Rose (Lyle) Spielman, Anita (Norm) Paulus; and brothers: Bernard (Cecilia) Sheahan, Patrick (Dorothy) Sheahan, James (Irene) Sheahan, Donald (Joyce) Sheahan, Raphael and John Sheahan; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Tom Pomeroy, with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Reedsville.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Catholic Church, Thursday morning from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. There will be no Wednesday evening visitation.
