Joan J. (Ratajczak) Hanson, age 86, resident of Mishicot for over 50 years, died Tuesday February 21, 2023 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.

Joan was born in Kewaunee on December 31, 1936, on a cold & snowy night, to Raymond and Emily (Forst) Ratajczak. She began her education in a one room school house and graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1954. On August 18, 1956, she married Glen E. Hanson at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Together, they had three children. Glen preceded her in death on January 30, 2019. Joan volunteered at many different places. She enjoyed watching birds, fishing, riding bike, walking, wildflowers, her cats, and doing puzzles.

She is survived by two children, Dennis Hanson of Mishicot, and Debbie Hanson (special friend, Terry Farber) of Two Rivers; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Rita Janda, and one brother, Ronald Ratajczak; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Emily Ratajczak; her husband, Glen; and one son, Daniel G. Hanson.

In accordance with Joan's wish, there will be no funeral services held.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Lakeshore Humane Society at 1551 N. 8th Street, Manitowoc, WI 54220 can be made.

Joan wished to donate her body to the University of Wisconsin, in the hope the knowledge gained would help someone be able to enjoy life as she did.
