Joanne Eggers, age 89, lifetime resident of Two Rivers, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, November 14, 2024 at the Lakeside Villa in Manitowoc.
Joanne was born in Two Rivers on April 18, 1935 to Thomas and Josephine (Schemenowski) Melanson. She attended St. Luke's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Washington High School with the class of 1954. On October 20, 1956, she married John G. Eggers at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. The couple was blessed with two daughters and 40 years of marriage. Joanne was a very dedicated wife & mother as she supported her husband as he established their business, EVM machine shop in Two Rivers and also very proud to see it remain a successful family business to the present time. John preceded her in death March 18, 1996.
Joanne worked for many years at Evans Department Store in Two Rivers, and later worked part-time for Domnitz Flowers of Two Rivers. She also worked many years at the voting polls for Elections. She was an active member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, and Rogers Street Fishing Village; and volunteered for T.R.E.P. and at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers. Joanne enjoyed her several card clubs, especially St. Peter the Fisherman's Sheepshead group; and she was an avid Brewer fan.
She is survived by her two daughters: Julie (Robert) Wigen of Valders, and Diane (Keith) Bruder of Two Rivers; her grandchildren: Nicholas (Amanda) Walesh and their children: Cassidy, Gloria, and Evelyn; Charles Walesh; Emma (Julien) Deroff and their daughter, Margaux, (and child expected in May); Alexander (Jackie) Bruder and their daughters, Ella and Lily; and Adam (Danielle) Bruder and their children, Penelope and Vance. She is further survived by one brother, Ted Melanson of Two Rivers; sister & brother-in-law, Katherine (Allen) Beranek of Mishicot; two sisters-in-law: Georgianne Melanson of Utah, and Ellen Rehrauer of Two Rivers; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Josephine Melanson; her husband, John G. "Sandy" Eggers; her father-in-law & mother-in-law, George and Ella Eggers; two sisters & a brother-in-law: Ruby Melanson, Carol (Roger) Kadow; two brothers: Richard and Franklin Melanson; brother-in-law, George Rehrauer; and two sisters-in-law, Joann Melanson and Kathleen Koller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Dave Pleier, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Wednesday morning from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. There will be no Tuesday evening visitation.
