Joyce E. Sinkula

July 28, 1926 — October 27, 2022

Joyce E. Sinkula, age 96, town of Carlton, Kewaunee County resident, died Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay after a short illness.

Joyce was born in Two Rivers, WI on July 28, 1926 to Henry and Mabel (Kappelmann) Mandel. On September 7, 1946, she married Leonard A. Sinkula at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Norman. Together, the couple farmed in the town of Carlton until they built their retirement home in 1983. Joyce also worked for many years at Mirro Aluminum Company in Two Rivers until retiring. Leonard preceded her in death July 9, 1990.

She was a past member of the American Legion Auxillary of Carlton; the Wayside Homemakers; the Czechs of Norman; and lifetime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Norman and later St. Isidore the Farmer Parish of Tisch Mills. Religion was very important to Mom, praying the rosary and watching Sunday Mass after she couldn't attend services in person. Over the years her hobbies included many crafts, needle point, knitting, crocheting, doing puzzles & word searches. Joyce was a lifelong Packer and Brewer fan, and a longtime Green Bay Packers season ticket holder. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and canning until the end; and also made sure every child, grandchild & great-grandchild received a special card on their birthday. We will miss you very much Mom.

Survivors include one daughter & son-in-law, Linda and Eugene Thiem of Denmark; four sons & two daughters-in-law, Jerome and Anne Sinkula, David and Linda Sinkula, Mark Sinkula, and Larry Sinkula, all of Kewaunee; eleven grandchildren, and twenty two great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mabel Mandel; her husband, Leonard; one son, Glen Sinkula; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Anton and Mary Sinkula; two brothers & a sister-in-law, Paul (Pat) Mandel, and Henry Mandel, Jr.; one infant sister, Vivian Mandel; and brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Ervin (Lucy) Sinkula, Stella (William) Geigel, Augusta (Victor) Rehrauer, Mayme (Frank) Hinesh, and Sybil McGraw.
