Joyce Bernice Wegner

Joyce Bernice (Witte) Wegner, age 91, of Mishicot, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Wisteria Haus, Two Rivers.

Joyce was born on September 22, 1931, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Oscar and Myrtle (Naser) Witte of Saxonburg Hill, Mishicot, Wis. and graduated from Mishicot High School with the Class of 1949. Joyce married John Wegner of Mishicot on June 28, 1952. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2004. She was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church in Mishicot. Her grandparents, Fred and Amelia Witte, were among the original founders, then Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church, in 1903. She was actively involved in the United Methodist’s Women and the Mishicot Homemaker’s Club for many years. In addition to being a devoted and loving wife, mother of three sons and homemaker, she began her working career in the late 1960s as first a teacher’s aide and then on the Mishicot school district’s administrative staff until retiring in 1996.

Survivors include her three sons: Brian (Cyndi) Wegner, Pittsburgh, PA, Bruce (Gail) Wegner, Francis Creek, and Doug Wegner, Two Rivers; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband: John; her sister: Rachel (Harry) Zik and two brothers: Robert and Jerome (Belvia) Witte.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Zion United Methodist Church, 421 Jackson St., Mishicot. Rev. Lynn Tricker will officiate at the service with burial to follow in the Mishicot Public Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m.
