Kay Lynn “Kay” Slaby, age 56, of Two Rivers, died on Sunday morning, September 18, 2022, with her husband by her side, following complications due to her four year courageous battle with ovarian cancer, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay.
Kay was born on May 6, 1966, in Two Rivers, the youngest daughter of the late Harold “Sonny” and Adele (Nelson) Zeman. Kay attended St. Luke’s Catholic Grade School, graduated with the Class of 1984 from Washington High School and then completed the Child Care Program at LTC. On April 28, 1990, she married Steve Slaby in Two Rivers. Kay was the Assistant Director at Creative Learning Day Care Center in Two Rivers for over 30 years.
Above everything, family came first, Kay loved being a mother and a proud new grandma, she never missed her kids sports events, enjoyed family summer vacations and watching her nieces and nephews sporting events. She enjoyed flower gardening, was an avid reader, and was a fan of the Brewers, Bucks, Packers and Badgers.
Survivors include her husband: Steve Slaby; her daughter: Karissa Slaby of Green Bay; her son and daughter-in-law: Brett and Tristan Slaby of Neenah; her grandson: Brecken Slaby; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Joy and Phil Dassey, Sherrie and Wayne Schultz and Marla Zeman; nieces and nephews: Christine (Jared), David, Sara (Christian), Michael (Kathy), Staci (Adam), Mandy (Brian), Katie (Tim). All of her great nieces and nephews were very special to Kay. She is further survived by her mother-in-law: Nancy Slaby; brothers-in-law: Dan and Jean Slaby and their children, Amber (Peter) and Jennifer and Chris and Michelle Slaby and their children, Emma (Riley) and Drew; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her father-in-law: Al Slaby.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers, on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
A time of reflection and remembrance will be held following the visitation.
A private family burial service will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Kay’s family extends a special thank you to Julie Puestow and her family for all of their support, the Two Rivers Fire and Police Depts. for all of their assistance on Monday, September 12th, Lisa Steinhauer N.P., Dr. William Bradley and the Oncology Team at Froedtert Hospital, the DaVita Dialysis Team and Aurora BayCare Medical Center ICU Team, for the care and compassion that Kay and our family received.
