Kayla Marie Samz

April 9, 1989 — July 27, 2023

Kayla Marie Samz, age 34 of Mishicot, peacefully entered eternal life at home Thursday, July 27th, 2023, surrounded with unending love of her Mom and Dad.

Kayla was born in Two Rivers on April 9, 1989 to Bernie and Debbie (Valenta) Samz. She graduated from Mishicot High School with the class of 2007 and furthered her education at LTC, earning a degree in graphic arts & design.

Kayla had a wonderful group of friends that stuck together as far back as grade school. Molly Stolp and Sarah Thorne were her besties. Many good and goofy times were made with her friends..... you were truly a blessing to her!

We can't forget all the super fun family trips she spent with her BNE's (Best Neighbors Ever). The Reinhart's (Chuck, Carol, Casey and Connor) have always had a special place in her heart.

Kayla enjoyed watching movies, watching birds, playing games on her phone, being with her friends and their kids, crafts, and buying stuff online. There were always packages coming to our door, and will probably continue for a while.

Kayla's disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy is an awful disease, but was also a blessing in disguise. Because of this horrible disease, Kayla and her family were blessed by the people they met and the friendships that were made, along with the wonderful experiences she was part of. She has touched so many lives. Kayla enjoyed MDA camps and all the special friendships she made there. They were some of the best weeks of her life.

Kayla is survived by her mom and dad, Bernie and Debbie Samz; one brother & sister-in-law, Mitchell and Olivia Samz; and one nephew, Drake. She is further survived by grandparents: Shirley Samz; and Nancy & Ben Valenta; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; along with her beloved dog, Bella, and cat, Lola. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Bernard Samz; one aunt, Pam Kadow; and two uncles: Mike Ryan and Tom Haese.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, 344 S. State Street in Mishicot, Saturday, August 5th from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon. A time of reflection and sharing of memories will follow at 12 o'clock. A private burial with family will follow in the Mishicot Public Cemetery.

The Samz family would like to extend a special thank you to Lakeland Care District for helping Kayla get what she needed; and to Homecare - for 18 years of wonderful care. We especially want to thank her last three caregivers who helped us through Kayla's roughest struggles - Rosie, Megan, and Theresa........... You are all angels!

Special thanks also to the Aurora Mishicot Clinic. Lisa Steinhauer, Cindy Williams, Ali, Wendy, and Pam all provided excellent care for Kayla for so many years, Thank You So Much......... and to the wonderful caregivers of Aurora at Home Hospice: Jayne, Jason, Tracy, and Pam who have all helped ease the transition for Kayla and our family.

Kayla had a very special love for her nephew, Drake. We will remember her last smile when she heard Drake come to visit.  Drake will now be joined by a new brother or sister expected on Monday, July 31st!
