Leonard P. "Lenny" Henrickson, age 84, lifelong resident of Two Rivers, died Monday morning, June 20, 2022 at his home, with family by his side.
Lenny was born in Two Rivers on March 25, 1938 to Owen and Melonia (Borusky) Henrickson. He attended Washington High School, graduating with the class of 1956. On February 4, 1961, he married Yvonne Graycarek at St. Luke's Church in Two Rivers.
Following graduation in June of '56 Lenny began his Hamiltonian Career (employment) which lasted about 6 years. For "pin" money he bartended for Vic Gauthier at "Vic's Bar", a local teen hangout, which introduced him to the beer business. The next 15 years he drove a Blatz or Budweiser beer truck and delivered beer to Manitowoc County taverns. He became interested in ownership of one of those pubs and in 1974 bought "Mrs. C's" on Memorial Drive which he named "Lenny's". In 1984 he bought a tavern in Two Rivers from Bob Lemanchek and called it Lenny's II. He retired in 2000 making many, many friends in both establishments over the years.
During the years as a tavern owner Lenny sponsored and participated in many women's and men's sports teams and tournaments. Bowling, softball, dartball, bean bags, horseshoes, golf, pool, miniature bowling, and trap shooting are just a few. He excelled and won many awards in bowling, horseshoes, trap shooting, and in his younger years, softball.
He was inducted into the Two Rivers Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1995; and later the Men's Lakeshore Horseshoe Hall of Fame and the Manitowoc County USBC Hall of Fame in 2005. He attended and bowled in 35 National USBC Tournaments held in a different state each year.
Any free summertime was spent in Door County at the family cottage. Boating, waterskiing, tubing, and sometimes fishing or just sitting around the fire were his favorite things to do. He especially enjoyed teaching the younger children how to ski or "tube" behind the boat. He taught us well so we would have good, safe fun. He will be sadly missed, but his memory will live on in all of us.
Lenny is survived by his wife, Yvonne; his four sons: Brian (Brenda) Henrickson, Two Rivers, Dale Henrickson, Two Rivers, David (Claudia) Henrickson, Green Bay, and Mark (Becky) Henrickson, Two Rivers; five grandchildren: Jamie (Dustin) Neubauer, Jenny Glaser, Nicole Henrickson (Luke King), Dylan Henrickson, and Alyssa Henrickson; six great-grandchildren: Brenna Jensen, Austin Vanderveren, Aidyn Glaser, Aubrey Glaser, Wren King, Wesley King, and baby girl Quinn Neubauer due in July; four step-grandchildren: Kassie Ahlswede, Katie (Jake) Wilsmann, Emma Burbey, Mykelyn Beatty; and four step great-grandchildren: Colton Ahlswede, Kalee Wilsmann, Calvin Wilsmann, and Ryder Ducat.
