Lorna E. Freitag-Bussie

Lorna Ellen Freitag-Bussie, age 85, from Two Rivers, WI, passed peacefully on February 5, 2022.

Lorna was born in Chicago, IL, on July 3, 1936, to Walter Gustav Krenz from Hanover, Germany and Helen Elisabeth (Rentz) Krenz from Oshkosh, WI. The family moved to Whitewater, WI, in 1949, where she graduated from Whitewater High School.

Lorna married Ludwig Freitag on November 5, 1955. They lived in the Milwaukee area for a number of years after marriage before finally settling in the Elkhart Lake area where they raised their two children, Karl and Cathy. They were an independent couple who believed in being self-sufficient and, in that regard, enjoyed their hobby farm and gardening. After the children were grown, Lorna and Ludwig enjoyed many adventures in traveling the world together. After 35 years of marriage, Ludwig passed away.

Lorna was blessed with a second love, Norris Bussie, and they were married July 8, 1995. With this new union, Lorna’s family grew even bigger. Norris and his 4 children, JoAnne, Kristine, Kathryn and John, were welcomed into the family. Lorna and Norris moved from Elkhart Lake to Two Rivers, where they enjoyed serving the community at their store, Riverfront Bait & Beverage. They vacationed in Florida and in Michigan frequently and enjoyed hunting and especially fishing. They were blessed with 25 years together.

Lorna’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Lorna’s kind spirit, faithful devotion to God, passion for adventure, love of nature, and zest for life will live on through them.

Survivors include her husband, Norris Bussie; daughter Cathy (Michael) Alt of Two Rivers; son Karl (Jackie) Freitag of Elkhart Lake; step-sister Shirley Keuler and husband Roland Keuler of Glendale, WI; three step-children, JoAnne, John and Kristine; 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen; father, Walter; husband, Ludwig; two sisters, Luella and Mary; brother, Richard; stepmother, Loretta; and step-daughter, Kathryn.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Church, 4408 County Rd B, Manitowoc, WI, on February 9, 2022. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery, Elkhart Lake, WI.
