Marie C. Young

Marie C. Young, age 101, resident of Laurel Grove Assisted Living, Manitowoc, died peacefully Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay.

Marie was born in Maple Grove on January 12, 1920 to Joseph J. and Emma (Swoboda) Phillip. She attended the Grassy Knoll Country School in the town of Franklin, St. Patrick's Grade School in Maple Grove, and graduated in 1936 from Reedsville High School. On June 12, 1941 she married Kenneth J. Young at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The couple enjoyed traveling and wintered in Florida for over twenty years. Kenneth preceded her in death February 27, 2007. Marie loved the outdoors, and spent many hours hunting & fishing - Canada being one of her favorite spots. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary; and also enjoyed gardening, and playing cards - especially cribbage.

She is survived by nieces & nephews which include her godchildren: Colleen Meidl, and her husband, Roger of Whitelaw, and Ken Phillip (fiance, Cindy Jagemann) of Manitowoc; niece, Ruth Noack of Kellnersville; nephews, Don Phillip (special friend, Mary Ann Krogh) of Reedsville, and Tom (Sue) Phillip of Menasha; great nieces & nephews, other relatives, and nieces & nephews from the Young family side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Emma Phillip; her husband, Kenneth Young; brothers: Edward Phillip, George (Viola) Phillip, Joseph (Laverne) Phillip, Jr.; three nephews: John, Dennis, and Tony Phillip; and one niece, Audrey Ebert.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Holy Family Parish in Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Tom Pomeroy, with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Reedsville.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Parish, Thursday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.
