Mary Ann Marek

Mary Ann (Bronk) Marek, age 90, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Rennes Health & Rehabilitation in DePere, WI, where she had been a resident for the past 4 1/2 years.

Mary Ann was born in the town of Sharon, Portage County on August 14, 1932 to Emil and Pearl (Eckendorf) Bronk. When Mary Ann was 3, the family moved to Manitowoc, WI where she attended grade school at St. Mary’s and graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1950. Shortly after graduation, Mary Ann started her career at Mirro Aluminum Company in Manitowoc. She spent her whole career in the Printing and Office Supply Division, working her way up to Office Manager when she retired.

On June 21, 1975, Mary Ann married Donald R. Marek at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc. They were married for 42 years before Donald passed away on July 1, 2017.

Mary Ann was an excellent baker making many beautiful cakes for birthdays, weddings and anniversaries. Her cakes were always the first selected at the St. Mary’s Church cake walks. In her younger days, Mary Ann loved traveling and enjoyed many trips with family and friends traveling throughout the United States.

Mary Ann was an excellent tennis player. She also loved riding her bike. In her retirement years, Mary Ann designed and sewed applique sweatshirts, selling them at many area craft shows.

Mary Ann is survived by her niece, goddaughter and caregiver, Clarice (Tom) Silbersack of Green Bay, WI; nephew and caregiver, Frank A. Ciha of Two Rivers, WI; niece, Cynthia L. (Daniel) Sook of DePere, WI; great-niece, Emily Sook of DePere; sister-in-law, Nancy (Mike) Wielmunester of Two Rivers; along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Pearl Bronk; her husband, Donald; her brother & sister-in-law, Alvin and Caroline Bronk; her sister & brother-in-law, Irene and Robert Ciha, Sr.; her sister, Lorraine Bronk; and her nephew, Robert “Robby” Ciha, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Marshall, 2109 Marshall Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Matt Colle, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi - Marshall Site, Friday morning from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation.
