Matt Belz

Matt blessed this world with his presence on March 16, 1977, born to Dennis & Janet (Sobol) Belz, and left this crazy world far too soon. At the age of 44, he had so much left to do!

Matt wouldn't compromise his mission to achieve happiness. Often times to the despair of those who loved him the most. However, more times than not, his happiness depended on the accomplishments and experiences he offered to friends, family and even complete strangers.

He had a way of being the nicest guy in the room who happened to express himself in the most absurd and often times inappropriate manner. That infectious laugh (which he inherited from his father) had everyone laughing with him.

He was fiercely independent but loved to have shared experiences with others who shared his passions for things like music, fishing, or being a creative artisan. Matt had a huge love of music. It was a great day when his kids Lily and Logan pulled out their guitars and sang. They are very talented. He encouraged Lily in her love for music, pushing her to try new songs and genres. Opening weekend for trout fishing was a must for Logan and Matt. He cherished his time with the both of them. Time spent with the Bark Rivers Boys making knives in Escanaba became his passion. The friends he made meant the world to him. They welcomed him with open arms and made many lasting memories.

Surviving Matt are his children: Lily and Logan; his parents, Dennis and Janet Belz; and his sister, Amanda (Ryan) Krause.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12 ^th, from 11am to 1pm at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18 ^th Street, Two Rivers. A short service will follow at 1:00 pm. Please join the family after the service at The Waverly Inn Pub: 1402 16 ^th Street, Two Rivers.

Please honor Matt by wearing your favorite jeans and hoodie/flannel shirt. He wasn’t one to dress up and certainly wouldn’t want you to. Let’s keep it casual and celebrate Matt !
