Melvin G. Danay

Melvin G. Danay, age 79, resident of Two Rivers, passed away at his residence late Thursday night, December 14, 2023 after a brief illness.

Melvin was born in Taus, WI on June 5, 1944 to George and Eleanor (Denor) Danay. He attended grade school in Taus, and graduated with the class of 1963 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On April 30, 1977, he was united in marriage to Diane M. Bruechert in Two Rivers. Melvin worked at the Weyerhaeuser Company in Manitowoc for 43 years, retiring in 2007.

He was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Parish in Two Rivers where he also served as an usher; Knights of Columbus Council #1957 of Two Rivers; the Two Rivers Senior Center; and the Two Rivers and Manitowoc Eagles Club. He was also a former member of the West Shore Sportsman's Club & the West Shore Lawn Mowing Crew, and was an avid deer hunter.

Survivors include his loving wife, Diane; his children: Timothy (Elizabeth) Danay of Random Lake, Jason (Jana) Danay of Hartford, Karen McCauley of Lakeville, MN, Barb (Jack) Carney of Isle, MN, and Sara (Steve) Laurin of Two Rivers; his grandchildren: Joshua, Tyler, Rebecca, Isaac, Michael, Matthew, Timothy, Tara, Halie, Amber, Nicholas, Zander, Landry, Sullivan, Hannah, Kassidy; along with many great-grandchildren. He is further survived by one brother, Richard (Beverly) Danay, one sister, Eleanor (Bill) Ploederl, all of Manitowoc; one brother-in-law, Wilford Schulz of Brillion; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eleanor Danay; one grandson, Brandon; one brother, George (Diane) Danay; his twin sister, Mary Jane Schulz; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Raymond and Dolores Bruechert; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Bruechert.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Dave Pleier, with burial of his cremated remains in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church Thursday morning from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. There will be no Wednesday evening visitation.
