Paul H. Burdick

Paul H. Burdick, age 94, longtime Mishicot resident, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024.

Paul was born in Two Rivers on April 17, 1930 to Paul and Elsa (Krueger) Burdick. He grew up in Kewaunee and Algoma, graduating with the class of 1948 from Algoma High School. After graduating, Paul worked at the Plywood Plant in Algoma and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army, 11th Airborne Division at the age of 18. He had a passion for parachuting and after his 10th parachute jump he developed Polio. He was then discharged from the military and after returning home began working for Schwantes Mfg. of Manitowoc as a draftsman and estimator until retiring.

In 1951, Paul met the love of his life, Alice June Jesse of Sturgeon Bay. They were married on June 23rd, 1951 and enjoyed 60 years of happiness and were blessed with five  beautiful daughters. Alice preceded him in death on February 19, 2010. Paul loved going up to his cabin spending time with family and friends, and especially loved going out to eat and an occasional stop at the casino where he always found someone to carry on a conversation with.

He is survived by four daughters & three sons-in-law: Wendy Lester, Sue (Robert) Cherney, Donna (Jim) Flessert, and Linda (Russ) Olp; his grandchildren: Keri Sawyer (special friend, Chris), John Lester, Amanda Lester, Jason Sand (special friend, Betty Jo), Jeremiah Sand (special friend, Glory), Josh (Kendra) Sand, Jessie (Mark) Cicha, Matt (Brooklyn) Cherney, Dalton Cherney (special friend, Morgan), Sara (Troy) Spevacek, Amber Flessert (special friend, Shawn), Nikki Flessert (special friend, Derek), Eric (Emily) Olp, Andrew (Cassi) Olp, Philip (Megan) Olp; and his great-grandchildren: Brayden, Kerissa, Samara, Kira, Leilah, Avery, Tatum, Jade, David, Dakota, Savana, Aiden, Greyson, Sawyer, Ava, Kaden, Dominick, Makenna, Nolan, Winter, Myla, Alex, Hailey, Joshua, Olivia, Isaac, and Lucas; along with one great-great grandson, Sonny; special neighbors; other relatives; and many many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Elsa Burdick; his loving wife, Alice; one daughter, Rachel Burdick; one grandchild, Baby Girl Burdick; son-in-law, Dean Lester; six sisters; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law.

The family will greet friends and relatives after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28th at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, 344 S. State Street in Mishicot. The visitation will conclude at 11:00 a.m. with a brief service led by his granddaughter, Keri.

Paul will be laid to rest at Knollwood Memorial Park, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.
