Paul J. Franz

Paul J. Franz, age 73, lifelong resident of Two Rivers, died peacefully at his home Wednesday evening, February 14, 2024 after lingering health issues.

Paul was born in Two Rivers on February 23, 1950 to Edwin and Alice (Dawidowich) Franz. He graduated with the class of 1968 from Washington High School, then furthered his education to earn an Associate Degree in Accounting from Lakeshore Technical College. Paul worked as an inspector for many years at Hamilton Manufacturing until retiring after the company closed. Paul served as financial secretary for Local 1533 and also for Lakes Regional Council.

On August 23, 1969, Paul married Donna Schramm at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Two Rivers. They were blessed with three daughters and 54 years of marriage. Paul loved to go camping with his family at Bayshore Park, and especially enjoyed the Friday Fish Frys they had together. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Paul is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna Franz; three daughters & sons-in-law: Carrie (Steve) Welnicke, Catherine (Andy) Rick, and Christine (Jason) Judnic; his grandchildren: Ethan and Jordan Welnicke; Allen, Marissa, Alexis, and Payton Rick; Timothy and Caroline Judnic; one brother, Richard Franz; two sisters: Pat Day (Ron), and Geraldine Genrich (Jeff); and his aunt, Ruth Franz. He is further survived by two sisters-in-law: Sue Sprang and Beth (Alan) Gauthier; two brothers-in-law: Bill (Ana) Schramm and Peter Schramm; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Alice Franz; one sister, Mary Ann (Bob) Cherveny; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fritz and Dorothy Schramm; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; other family members and friends.

Friends may call at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th Street, Two Rivers, Wednesday evening, February 21st from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church Thursday morning from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2024 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot, Rd. Two Rivers. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.
