Paul D. Kappelman, age 74, of Two Rivers, died unexpectedly Friday, December 15, 2023, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Paul was born on September 12, 1949, in Two Rivers, a son of the late Melvin and Doris (Heldt) Kappelman. Paul attended Koenig Grade School and graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1967. On October 12, 1968, he married Linda Ruminski at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Paul was employed as a machine operator at Schwartz Mfg., retiring as a group leader after 50 years with the company. He coached tennis at L.B. Clarke Middle School, 12 years at St. Peter the Fisherman Grade School, Washington H.S. Girls Team for 24 years and the Boys Team for 2 years. In 2012, Paul was inducted into Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame for his contributions to the game of tennis in Manitowoc County. He played tennis, was on the Big Lews softball team, played and refereed volleyball, gave tennis lessons, and enjoyed fishing, especially with his grandkids.
Paul is survived by his wife: Linda Kappelman; two daughters and sons-in-law: Jody and DJ Myers and Wendy and Brian Kohlmeier, all of Two Rivers; four grandchildren: Jake (Rachel) Kohlmeier, Zackary (Keyara) Kohlmeier, Dalten Myers and Claire Myers; and three great grandchildren: Stella, Ava and Amelia Kohlmeier. He is further survived by a brother: Dale Kappelman; sister: Candice Rank; in-laws: Mary Nochomson, Ann Durocher, Richard (Donna) Ruminski and Debbie (Jerry) Caldwell; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter: Jamie Ann in 1991; brother: Glenn E. Kappelman; and in-laws: Thomas Rank, Faye Kappelman, Joan Bruechert, Robert Ruminski and Evan Durocher.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Mass at 4:30 p.m.
