Richard (Dick) Franz

Richard E. (Dick) Franz, age 75,  town of Two Rivers resident, died peacefully at home Friday afternoon, February 16, 2024, surrounded by family.

Richard was born in Two Rivers on November 18, 1948 to Edwin and Alice (Dawidowich) Franz. He graduated from Two Rivers Washington High School with the class of 1967. On June 28, 1969, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth J. "Betty" Lark at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Menasha. Betty preceded him in death November 3, 2019.

Dick worked for many years as a machinist at Mirro Aluminum until the company closed. He then worked for the Polk Machine Shop until his retirement. Richard was a very active member/volunteer of Town of Two Rivers Fire Department since 1977 and served as the Fire Chief for the past 10 years. He was mentor to many of the young firefighters who joined the department over the years. Dick also served as longtime Constable for the Town of Two Rivers and the Town of Mishicot. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards, and especially time spent with his granddaughter, Abigail.

He is survived by one daughter, Michelle (Jason) Wiskow of Blaine, Minnesota; one son, Mark Franz of Two Rivers; and his granddaughter, Abigail. He is further survived by two sisters: Gerry Genrich (Jeff) of Two Rivers, Patricia Day (Ron) of Howard; one sister-in-law, Donna Franz of Two Rivers; one aunt, Ruth Franz of Two Rivers; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Alice Franz; his wife, Betty; his brother, Paul Franz; mother-in-law, Delores Lark; one sister & three brothers-in-law: Mary Ann (Bob) Cherveny, Bill Genrich and Hap Day; and a nephew, Derek Genrich.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th Street, Two Rivers, Friday evening, February 23rd from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday morning at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church from 9:00 until 10:15 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.
