Rose Mary Zastrow

October 2, 1939 — November 10, 2022

Rose Mary Zastrow, age 83, a longtime Two Rivers resident, died in the loving arms of her daughter, Kristin, Thursday morning, November 10, 2022, at The Cottages Assisted Living & Memory Care in Shawano, Wisconsin.
Rose Mary was born October 2, 1939, in Shawano, the oldest daughter of the late Alexander and Erna (Schutt) Haut. She attended Shawano schools, graduating from Shawano High School with the Class of 1957. On September 19, 1959, she married Dick Zastrow at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2016. On December 31st, 1969, they added to their family, adopting as their own, a daughter, Kristin Kay. Rose Mary was most proud of being a Mom to Kristin, and later, being "Grandma Z" to three grandchildren, Katie, Ryan and Rachel Ann. She also took pride in maintaining a home worthy of a "white-glove-test" at any given moment, playing host to her family on more than just the holidays, taxi-ing the grandkids from school and/or activities, and establishing an after-school routine for them that ensured they put a priority on learning and family time around the dinner table.
In addition to a love for her family and watching the grandchildren's sports, music, dance, academic, and theater events, she enjoyed gardening, canning, and baking. She's remembered most fondly for her pickles, M&M cookies, and Katie's favorite - mashed potatoes. Rose Mary also worked outside of the home, most notably at Riverside Foods in Two Rivers, where "fish table" talk, laughter and unforgettable friendships were formed.
Survivors include her daughter: Kristin/Kris; her grandchildren: Katelyn/Katie (Christopher) Krug, Ryan Kluba, and Rachel (Matthew) Coleman; her sisters: Betty (Danny) Hesselink and Patsy Haut; her sisters-in-law: Diana Eggert and Barb Haut; along with God-children, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister: Kathryn Haut; three brothers: Donald, Roger and Jerry Haut; and two sisters and brothers-in-law: Mick (Bob) Schweers and Geneva (Marvin) Gast.
Funeral services for Rose Mary will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3607 45th St., Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. David Arndt with entombment to follow in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy 310, Manitowoc.
