Sally Ann (Cook) Handl, age 86, passed away after a short and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
Born March 10, 1938, to Edwin and Doris (Carriveau) Cook, Sally was the oldest of 12 children. She met the love of her life, Ronnie Handl, on a blind date. They were married on May 10, 1958. Together, they raised three children: Kim, Jay, and Dawn. Sally was the owner of Ron-Sal Beauty Salon in Two Rivers, WI, a member of St. Marks Church, and a senior center volunteer.
After Ronnie’s passing, Sally moved to Lake Forest, IL, where she loved gardening, cooking, reading, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
She continued to give free haircuts and cheer on her beloved Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Bucks.
She is survived by her children: Kim Steveson (Mark), Lake Forest, IL; Jay Handl (Kathy), Azle, TX; and Dawn D’Este, Sacramento, CA; eight grandchildren: Zachary (Jenny), Samantha, Patrick, and Olivia Steveson; Joseph and Delaney Handl; Isabell and Gabrielle D’Este; two great-grandchildren: Meriwether and Felix Steveson; five sisters: Patricia Martens; Judy Fidler (Robert); Claudia Gunner (Joseph); Tracey Beesaw (Chet); Lisa Blahnik (Mark); four brothers: Dale Cook; Jerry Cook (Sharon); Richard Cook; Thad Cook (Patty Jo).
She is further survived by brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Nancy (Daniel) Klein, and Tom (Pam) Handl; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier, private family burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Manitowoc. A luncheon for family and friends will follow the service at Machut’s Supper Club, Two Rivers.
