Walter J. "Sonny" Gibas, Jr.

Walter J. “Sonny” Gibas, Jr., age 77, of Two Rivers, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at his residence.

Walter was born on July 1, 1945, in Milwaukee, a son of the late Walter John and Mary Grace (Nihoris) Gibas, Sr. He attended high school in Milwaukee and then served in the U.S. Army.

Walter turned his passion for painting into his profession. He enjoyed drawing, going to thrift stores, going for walks, going out to eat with his daughter, watching movies on Netflix, and visiting with his daughter, Stasha, his son-in-law, Clarence, his grandson, Marcus, and his friends.

Survivors include his children: Ginger Falconbury, Joshua James Walters, Stasha Marie Walters, Jeremiah John Walters, his brothers & sisters: John Gibas, Bob Gibas, Manitowoc, Jeff Gibas, Green Bay, Jack Gibas ,Indiana, Gloria Gibas, Patsy Kunesh, Manitowoc, Georgia Barrett, Delevan & Geraldine Lyons, Two Rivers; and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: James Gibas and Ellis Ray Gibas.

Burial of his cremated remains will take place at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. A celebration of his life will be held following the burial at Waverly Inn Pub & Pizzeria, 1402 16th St., Two Rivers.
